Precious Metal Clay is a wonderful new form of fine silver and gold which can be manipulated like clay, but after firing is solid silver or gold. True alchemy! Also known as PMC, it was developed by the Mitsubishi Materials Corporation of Japan and introduced into the US in 1996 through a distributor, Rio Grande Gems and Findings in Albuquerque, NM.

In the US, PMC is currently available in either unalloyed fine silver (what we typically use in class) or fine gold. Students are instructed how to work with the material, which responds well to hands and fingers. They learn to carve, fire and finish it, experimenting with pinched, rolled, and hollow forms.

Polish and finish your work to best bring out the design. Supplies included in course fee.

Basic Bronze and Copper Workshop
Just as Precious Metal Clay does, new base metal clay, Bronze Clay provides a incredible artistic range. And, because it is bronze, it is also so economical that you can use it for large pieces--even sculptures--very affordably! Create jewelry, jewelry components, or custom-crafted specialized tools. We will even practice new techniques or design ideas using Bronze Clay, then apply your new skills to precious metals. PLEASE NOTE: Bronze Clay must be embedded in activated carbon in sealed vessel during firing.

Play Day Birthday Party
Fast becoming a favorite, this memorable birthday party is perfect for the creative on your list! Start with making Fused Glass wine stoppers, then finish with each guest making their own personal "Vision Board." This can be adapted for kids or any-age adults!

Vision Board Building
The purpose of a Vision Board is to help you create a visual image of what you want to attract in your life. You will be surprised to see the things on your board show up in your life - sooner or later- providing you put your intention on them and stay positive.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL        Registration and Schedule of Upcoming Classes

PMC Ring Workshop
(intermediate - requires Basic PMC completion)
Learn how to make an unusual PMC wrap ring.  Learn to imprint a design on a PMC ring, set cubic zirconia, onyx or turquoise stone, and use decorative punches with PMC sheet.  After completing the ring, students will polish and oxidize it.  Stone and bezel setting are discussed.

Fused Glass and Inclusion Workshop
Learn the basics of adding inclusions in glass.  Make the design elements with paper punches of silver, copper and brass to create intricate shapes to fuse into your pendants.  Discover how to create the illusion of depth by layering the metal between glass.  There are several powders we will  fuse into glass. These are used to either promote bubbles, to tint the glass or to give metal sheens. Mica powders can be fused into or on top of your glass for metal looks and come in a variety of shades. We will try metal oxides, the type used in ceramics to give interesting effects...specifically copper oxide.
